Amnesty International in the Chech Republic is calling on the Chinese regime to release a Chinese mother. Chen Zhenping has been imprisoned in China for her belief in the spiritual practice of Falun Gong. Chen's daughter has been fighting for years now to try and save her mother. Here's that story.

NOTE: NY SAID IT WILL BE READY TONIGHT
Czech Amnesty International staged a protest outside the Chinese embassy in Prague to call for release of Falun Gong practitioner Chen Zhenping who has been imprisoned for her belief.

[Gabriela Bartova, Amnesty International, Czech Republic]:
“This lady’s story represents the thousands of other stories of people who are imprisoned in China for practicing Falun Gong – a spiritual practice. Every citizen has got the right to free expression of belief and Amnesty International regards it as something no one should be imprisoned for, let alone tortured, and that’s what is happening to Chen Zhenping right now.”

Chen Zhenping's daughter Zhao Yu Yin left China in 2008 and now lives in Finland.

Despite threats from the Chinese regime she keeps fighting to save her mother.

[Zhao Yu Yin, Chen Zhenping's Daughter]:
“My mum resisted the persecution by going on a hunger strike. The police tortured her using force-feeding. There were about ten policemen doing it, they sat on her and forcefully opened her mouth. Now she can no longer take solid foods as her teeth were badly damaged.”

Also in attendance is Czech song-writer Pepa Nos who considers the Chinese Communist regime a big threat.

[Pepa Nos, Czech Song-writer]:
“What is standing here is the most murderous regime not only here in the Czech Republic but everywhere in the world, mainly in China. So every official location of the People's Republic of China is the gravest threat to the whole world because that's where all the right to live abuse comes from...Wherever the Communist foot steps, Cambodia, Nepal, the Maoist Shining Path etc., everywhere leaves piles of corpses.”

This protest is the last of a series of public events demonstrating how the Chinese regime breaks families apart while persecuting Falun Gong.

[Gabriela Bartova, Amnesty International Czech Republic]:
“Arresting Falun Gong practitioners who are mainly women... Small children very often lose their parents in this way, that's why we have the plush toys here. We want to send the Chinese authorities a message: keep the animal toys but give the Chinese children their parents back.”

The activists were allowed inside the Chinese embassy building.

When they wanted to hand over the toys and letters calling for Chen Zhenping's release, however, the police told them that the embassy would not accept anything from them.
